An illustrated lecture by Prof. Bharat Gupt on ‘Images & Symbols of Indian Art’.  The lecture is followed by a discussion on the major symbols and images in Indian Art from Vedic to Modern Times.

Krakow Festival of Anthropology of Dance, Poland, March, 2008. Komala Varadan is a special invitee. She will present a Solo dance performance. She will also present a paper on ‘Indian solo classical dancing’.

Birla Academy of Art and Culture, Kolkata is organizing an Exhibition of Komala’s paintings. Komala will also give a dance performance under their auspices.

Kalaikoodam is celebrating its Silver Jubilee. On the 28th July, the celebrations will be inaugurated with a function in the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.

Kalaikoodam had organized an audio visual presentation on “VEDAS and HIMALAYAS” by eminent scholar Shri C.V.Gopinath on 13th April, 2007.

Kalaikoodam is presenting a two day Cultural Festival on the 8th and 9th of July, 2007 at the India Habitant Centre, New Delhi.

On the 8th July, 2007 Komala Varadan will present a newly choreographed thematic dance programme “VARSHA” – Rain.

On the 9th July, 2007 Chitraveena N. Ravikiran of Chennai will present a Chitraveena Concent.


  September 2007  
 

In Sept, 2007 (5th to 9th) Komala Varadan will attend the 21st World Dance Congress in Athens organized by International Dance Council under UNESCO. She will also perform for the delegates from all over the world.

She will also attend the International Choreographers Show Case to be held in Paris between 10th and 14th of Sept 2007 and perform on two days, Sept 11th and 12th.

On 17th November Komala Varadan performed for the ITPO at the Shankuntalam Theatre at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, India.

Kalaikoodam students presented scintillating dance recital on Vijayadasami Day and received the approbation of the audience.

Komala Varadan was invited by the International Dance Council of UNESCO on the 20th World Dance Congress which was held from 25th to 29th October 2006 in Athens, Greece.

She gave a short Performance during the Congress session, and also took a class.

On 24th October 2006, Komala Varadan gave a public performance at the Cholargos Cultural Center in Athens. Photographic reproductions of her Paintings on Dance were also exhibited in the Exhibition hall there.

Komala Varadan and her students presented a specially choreographed dance recital in praise of Lord Krishna in New Delhi titled "Jayatu Jayatu Krishno". The Lt. Governer of Delhi Mr. B.C.Joshi was the Chief Guest. The Programme was attented among others by distinguished members of the diplomatic community of Delhi.

Komala Varadan was invited by the International Council of UNESCO on the 19th World Dance Congress held in Cyprus. She gave a performance and a lecture demonstration. She also interacted with dancers from all over the world who had come for the Congress.

Kalaikoodam organised in its premises an artistic demonstration of making colourful paper items by Art & Craft Training Centre, Pune.

In keeping with the tradition developed overs the years, Kalaikoodam students presented music and dance programmes on Vijayadasami Day. The gathering included distinguished members of the Diplomatic Community and some visitors from Korea and Poland
.

The CD produced by Kalaikoodam on 'Prakritim Vande - Salutation to Nature' combining Komala Varadan's dance and photography was release at a glittering function in Alliacce Francais Auditorium, New Delhi by Shri.S.Jaispal Reddy, Minister of Culture, Government of India. Kathak Maestro Pandit Birju Maharaj was the Chief Guest and received the first CD.

Komala Varadan was Chief Guest at the Convocational performance at the National School of Dance, Hanoi, Vietnam on the invitation of Mrs. Chu Thuy Quynh, General Secretary, Vietnam, Unoin of Literature and Arts Association.

Kalaikoodam organized a Two Day Cultural Festival on 18th and 19th April at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi. On the first day two students of Kalaikoodam presented a specially choreographed Bharatnatyam recital. This was followed by a Flute Recital by the renowned artist, Shri. Hari Mohan Shrivastava from Lucknow.

On the second day Smt. Vyjayanti Kashi From Banglore gave a Kuchipudi recital.

A Souvenir was brought out on the occasion. It contains special articles by eminent personalities on India's civilizational links with Laos etc.
