In January Two Days of Classical Dances were presented.
On 21st January Sathyanarayana Raju of Bengaluru presented Bharatha Natyam, Saswati Sen and disciples of Pt. Birju Maharaj presented Kathak.
On 22nd January, Jayaprabha Menon presented Mohini Attam and Madahvi Mudgal presented Odissi. Classical Dances were performed at Sri Sathya Sai International Centre, Lodhi complex on both the days.

In April, 2009, Kalaikoodam presents three days of performing Arts ‘Sangeet Nritya Natakotsav’, on 20th, 21st and 22nd at the Stein Auditorium at India Habitat Centre.
On 20th April Pts. Rajan Sajan Misra present a feast of Hindustani Classical vocal music.
On 21st April a Taala Vadya Katchri (Rhythm ensemble) was conducted by Sri. Mridangam Peravali Jaya Bhaskar from Hyderabad, at 7.00P.M.
At 8.00 P.M. Shri. Gopal Prasad Dubey of Seraikalla, Jharkhand will present a colourful Chhau dance programme with his troupe.
On 22rd April, Kalikoodam will present a Punjabi drama, ‘Qatra Qatra Zindagi’ written and directed by Davinder Daman, in collaboration with the Punjabi Akademi.
On the 17th of April, Komala Varadan will present a programme
‘Expressions – Choreographies in Bharatanatyam’ at the Epicentre in Gurgaon at 7.30P.M. |

Kalaikoodam is happy to announce two days of programmes as part of its Silver Jubilee Celebrations during the month of May, 2009.
On Wednesday, 13th of May, Ms. PURVADHANASHREE presented Vilasini Natyam which originates in Andhra Pradesh.
On Thursday, 14th of May, PURVANCHAL MAHARASHTRA MANDAL presented ‘A Glimpse Of Maharashtra’.
INDIA INTERNATIONAL CENTRE Auditorium was the venue for both days. |

On 21st July at 10.00 a.m. A Day long Seminar was held titled
'Towards A Cultural Policy' at theIndia International Centre Auditorium.
On 22nd July at 6:30 pm Classical Carnatic Vocal Concert by
N. Vijy Siva of Chennai accompained by Shri Ram Kumar on the Violin and Kumbakonam Padmanaban on the Mridangam
was held at the Kamani Auditorium.
On 23rd July, at 6:30 pm The Valedictory Function was held

Kalaikoodam (Komala Varadan Institute of Arts) completed 25 years in July, 2008. On 28th of July, the year long Silver Jubilee Celebrations were formally inaugurated by Dr. Kapila Vatsyayan, the eminent Scholar and Authority on Arts and Culture. Mr. A. Parsuramen, Secretary of the General Conference and the Executive Board of UNESCO, Paris, participated in the function, received the first copy of the Silver Jubilee Souvenir and addressed the gathering. A Three Day National Seminar on ‘Arts and Culture for Indian Resurgence’ was held on 1st, 2nd & 3rd of August at the India International Centre. Scholars and experts from different parts of the country participated and presented papers. The discussions were very interesting and thought provoking. |

Komala has been invited by the Birla Academy of Art & Culture, Kolkata to present a dance performance and also to hold an exhibition of her paintings and photographs. The Exhibition will be inaugurated by
Mr. B. K. Birla on the 6th of September and her dance recital will take place on the 7th. |

Kalaikoodam presents Yaksha Manjusha group from Mangalore in a Yakshagana performance on the 12th of October, at the Sur Tal Amphitheatre, in Talkatora Gardens, New Delhi. The special feature of this presentation is that the songs will be in Hindi language for the performance. |

In Sept, 2007 (5th to 9th) Komala Varadan will attend the 21st World Dance
Congress in Athens organized by International Dance Council under
UNESCO. She will also perform for the delegates from all over the world.
She will also attend the International Choreographers Show Case to be
held in Paris between 10th and 14th of Sept 2007 and perform on two days,
Sept 11th and 12th.

Kalaikoodam students presented scintillating dance recital on Vijayadasami Day and received the approbation of the audience.
Komala Varadan was invited by the International Dance Council of UNESCO on the 20th World Dance Congress which was held from 25th to 29th October 2006 in Athens, Greece.
She gave a short Performance during the Congress session, and also took a class.
On 24th October 2006, Komala Varadan gave a public performance at the Cholargos Cultural Center in Athens. Photographic reproductions of her Paintings on Dance were also exhibited in the Exhibition hall there.

Kalaikoodam organized a Two Day Cultural Festival on 18th and 19th April at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi. On the first day two students of Kalaikoodam presented a specially choreographed Bharatnatyam recital. This was followed by a Flute Recital by the renowned artist, Shri. Hari Mohan Shrivastava from Lucknow.
On the second day Smt. Vyjayanti Kashi From Banglore gave a Kuchipudi recital.
A Souvenir was brought out on the occasion. It contains special articles by eminent personalities on India's civilizational links with Laos etc. |
