Komala is a member of the Federation of Indian Photography and participates in Indian and International Photo Salons. She was one of the advisors to 22nd FIP's National Photographic Convention held in Jabalpur in 2004.
She contributes to calendars and magazines and to illustrate articles on many subjects. As a photographer, she has travelled in many countries to photograph the people, the beauty of the land and places of importance.
- Her photograph 'Village Girl' was selected for Around the World with PSA' (Photographic Society of America) folio.
Her photo exhibitions include:
- 'Beauty and Rhythm' organized by the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, New Delhi.
- 'Glimpses of China' organized by the Embassy of China in 2002, after her visit to China on a Goodwill Delegation on the invitation of the Government of China.
- 'Delhi O Delhi' - photos on Delhi organized by India Habitat Centre in September, 2005.
- ITDC has made a big board out of her photograph taken in Kashmir.
- Her photo entry was selected for the Exhibition of the Tourism Department of Govt. of India, for India Tourism Week 1999.
